You can not really compare the Bible to Kreutzwald or Jaig (sp) because there is no comparison. I doubt either K. or J. claimed that their stories were true, but the writers in the Bible did-over and over again. By the way, the Bible was written over a period of 1500 years by more than 40 different authors of very different backgrounds. These authors wrote in many different geographical locations and cultures. It was also written in three different languages. So it is quite a different book than any other book.
As far as the New Testament is concerned, there were witnesses alive when the writings were "published" who could have contradicted the main points of the entire collection.
As far as the Old testament goes, nobody has ever proved that there mistakes or errors in it either historically, scientifically, geographicaly, archeologically, etc. And even though the original manuscripts are missing more and earlier copies have been found for the Bible than for any other book in history, giving it substantial trustworthiness.
As for why some Estonians respect foreign "fairytales" the answer is that Estonians were created by the same God who created the people who wrote and compiled the Bible. Sure some of these stories apply particularly to Jewish folks, but most of the message of the Bible applies to all humankind, which includes Estonians. Perhaps those Estonians who respect the Bible and worship the God oof the Bible have come to the realisation that it is true.
